Sleep & Let Sleep !

The first azadi I got after stepping in varsity life was the azadi to take my own political stands. Accompanied by a few like minded friends it was easy to not only generate opinions but now we also felt empowered and aware enough to stage 'protests'.
The first ever protest of my life was the most dangerous one, it was against the existence of APMSO and Islami  Jamiat e Talaba and all student political groups in KU, we risked our lives. We couldn’t achieve exactly what we wanted , all what we were able to do was get recognition from the VC for taking such a bold initiative, neutral students whom we represent usually absolve their selves from issues at campus!
After which we realized that we have what it takes to form a political party, though we didn’t form one, but lived four years of our life like Lenin or Mao Zedong. The experience so far has been good; I have no regrets for staging a protest on almost all big issues that occurred during my 4 year university tenure.
The 2 big lessons learnt are,
1)      Just protests matter nothing unless the amount of people agthered  is large  and is regularly followed up. ( extracted from chapter on news values in Dynamics:)
2)       The sluggish attitude of fellow students!
Out of the 25,000 intellectuals who visit KU five days a week on an average, there are hardly 5 to 20 students who are even aware of the powers and rights of a student, the majority believes in living life to its fullest, they are always there for singing & dancing and never for work .here work must be redefined, ‘work is any thing that results in capital’, as per this law, staging a protest or showing concern on issues that matter us does not fall into the category of work !
If being lazy was the limit that would have been still considerable but unfortunately this lethargic majority is a believer in the notion “sleep and let sleep” ,they deliberately confuse and demotivate all those who they can ,and I am damn sure that they do not do it because they value time more than us , its just that they fear that if the active minority turns into an effective majority it might force them to come out of their deep slumber !
The decision of taking up a position on any issue is the personal right of every individual, but discouraging others and particularly confusing them is a criminal act according to me !
What category do you fall in?

Cricket Vs. Human Life

 Bring the cup home!
That is all what matters to 99% of the people living in this territory called Pakistan , Pakistan the land of pure has not only pure people but also passionate people !  We are ready to do anything to prove the world ,in particular our neighbor India that “we” are the kings of cricket !
That is definitely all what matters to us , the premieres of Pakistan have accepted the invitation to watch the match in Mohali , following them a whole number of ‘very important persons’ will flock the stadium on the 30th making it simply impossible for the poor people to make it inside the stadium , oh ! The class disparity in sports too…
Before the match the only thing people have to discuss back here in Karachi is where is one watching the match, where will it be screened, a friend of mine in Nazimabad told they had to actually threaten the kids in the area who had taken up the residency on storm to contribute money so that the youth can arrange a large screen for the match!
While writing this … news came that there will be no load shedding on 30th , good news , there was load shedding on the 23rd march I guess! But it doesn’t matter does it, what is more important? match of course.
My eyes read the tigers on news channels that the government is considering an option of public holiday that makes so much sense! After all 18 million people need time so they can watch the men in green take the national esteem higher!
Having said all that, It may sound stupid but its true, I seriously don’t care whether we win over India or not !
Yes , winning would be good but in the other case is no big deal ! It doesn’t matter at all we win or lose , for me winning or loosing in a match will not define our national dignity !
It is just a game people, realize!
The month of March alone has seen a dozen of innocent deaths daily caused by target killings. Karachi has been burning under this curse. There are no words in my knowledge to describe the amount of ignorance we display in matters of real concern!
Victory in sports is dearer to us than human life!
